Our wedding invitation is a small reflection of who we are as a couple - our shared love for movies, music, and all things Tamil! Scroll down for all deets!

'Nalvaravu' is a Tamil traditional way of warmly welcoming guests to an auspicious event.  So think of this as us extending our heartfelt invitation to you!

1: Nalvaravu

The minute we laid eyes on Adi and Tara zooming through Mumbai in the movie OKKanmani, we knew that's the kind of 'extra' we always want to be. This bike here is a testament to that feeling of the magic spell that Rahman and Mani Ratnam have cast on us. This song 'Mental Manadhil' is one of our favourites, and with good reason!

Thoranams are flower arrangements that are commonly used in South India for functions and traditions. They're generally considered to bring good luck, so here's hoping for luck to always be on our side!

You see, we're both street food lovers. You'd often see us standing in line for a plate of bhel puri or tikki or vadais, which entices our appetite far more than any fine dining restaurant. Rarely seen, but even today, some street vendors continue to rely on these petromax lamps. So this is our tribute to all the roadside food we've hogged, relished and crave for!

What's a South Indian wedding without some of these quintessential stereotype elements, right? But the truth is that, our ancestors have found use in every part of the banana plant. It's more than just a food plate, it also signifies prosperity, a sign of new things to come.

Putting the eternal doubt of whether that emoji is folded hands, or a high five, to rest. We are delighted to confirm that it's the vanakkam representation. The hands, however, could belong to Aishwarya Rai for all we know.

6: Folded Hands

A traditional decorative item from Tamil Nadu, used very popularly in events. It's a palm leaf (pana olai) folded neatly to look like cute kilis (parrots)!

Soppanasundari (meaning: dream girl) is the car used by grooms for decades in Tamil weddings to enter the venue. Though Venky will be arriving by a regular Uber only, he will be arriving in style to finally marry his soppanasundari.

There is an iconic movie called Kannathil Muthamittal (you should watch it if you haven't), involving two countries connected by sea, and a daughter looking for her mother. While this has nothing to do with a marriage, a song from this movie was playing in the background as we said "YES" to each other. We're truly riding this wave together!

Sungudi is a saree print that's been around in Tamil Nadu for ages now. Literally for so long that Sungudi sarees are associated with what grandmas wear. There's a real charm and softness to draping this saree, it feels like a hug. We recently also learnt that the pattern of Sungudi also stands for the cosmic pattern made by the stars in the sky! One more reason to believe that the stars have aligned!
